Our Collaborations
The council has previously collaborated with various schools, youth groups and events to engage our community in climate action and awareness.
This includes organising school debates and competitions, scout group activities, community tree-planting events, stalls, workshops and more. As a council, we hope to continue working alongside our community, to improve our understanding of climate challenges and how we can face them together

School Debate
In 2021, we held a Climate Debate at Chorley Town Hall, chaired by Rt. Hon Sir Lindsay Hoyle MP. This event provided a fantastic platform and opportunity for the students of Chorley to voice their views on climate change. Students were able to get involved and engage with local decision-making processes.
We hope to organise another school climate debate in the future.
School Competition – Chorley’s Climate Heroes
Take part in our inter-schools climate change competition, ending June 2026! Compete against other local schools to become Chorley’s Climate Heroes, completing a variety of climate actions and projects to support the environment, wildlife and your local area.
Contact climatechange@chorley.gov.uk for more information.
School Art Competition
In 2022, we held a schools art competition focussed on recycling and creating a greener planet. Students were encouraged to produce an art piece to inspire recycling for a cleaner planet, with the 2 winning art pieces to be displayed on Chorley’s local bin wagons. The winning art pieces were produced from Balshaw Lane primary school, and St Chad’s Whittle-le-woods primary school.
